The Walsh University Jewish/Catholic Studies Institute presents a special program in anticipation of Holocaust Memorial Day 2013.

Ernst Grumbacher was born is Wiesbaden, Germany 1909. On November 9, 1938, Kristalnacht, "The Night of Shattered Glass" Ernst was interned in Dachau, the Concentration Camp. Miraculously released six weeks later, Ernst fled Germany with his wife and arrived in America on January 1, 1939. Shortly after becoming a US citizen he joined the US Army in in 1943. He served with distinction. Ernst passed away in 1999, leaving his son, Peter, to tell the story.
Rabbi Grumbacher has said, "I have presented my father's story for many years. It continues to fascinate audiences of all faiths and ages. As the Holocaust become 'ancient history' to many, and as fewer survivors remain to bear witness to the events of that dark period of time in the history of humanity, one man's story serves to bring home the message."
