Stark Park’s Wildlife Conservation Center is the largest wildlife rehabilitation center in our area. State and federal permits allow experienced staff to care for nearly 2,000 injured, ill, and orphaned native wild animals each year. With the help of volunteers and generous veterinarians, the Center has successfully released rehabilitated wildlife back to their natural habitats at a rate exceeding the national average. The current facility was gifted to the Stark County Park District in 1982 from the Sanders Wildlife Foundation and its founder C. Pitt Sanders.

The center also houses non-releasable live wildlife used as educational program ambassadors. In 2014 Stark Parks presented 183 educational programs with live animal ambassadors throughout Stark County in park locations, at area schools, libraries, community events, and through distance learning.
